May 20th 2020 – A message from the president of our club.
It’s with great sadness and much dismay I have to announce there will be no Jets Over The Heartland in 2020. We will have it again next June on the 20th-27th of 2021 providing there isn’t another world catastrophe!
After much deliberation I decided to forgo the show this year do to many reasons some of which stem from the Virus and some for personal reasons.
1.)At first I thought what would Ralph do? I think this way a lot because he was a very smart man and like a second father to me. If he had still been alive and contracted the virus it would have certainly killed him. This made me think that it’s probably not a good idea in such a small town to bring in all the good folks that attend the show because along the way they too could contract the virus and then bring it to all of us.
Having a show of this magnitude would possibly mean spreading to each other. Standing in food lines, hanging out, staying at hotels , going to the store, grabbing the wrong bottle etc. I don’t want to kill all my fellow modelers off just to make some money for the club. Or prove anything to anyone.
2.) On a more personal level I am having one of the best years I’ve had in my life going for work this year. Lots of support from bulthaup and their designers from showrooms in LA., DC., Dallas and Boston have me running like a chicken with its head cutoff. So I need to think of myself and my financial future as I don’t run J.O.T.H. For selfish monetary reasons. I install cabinets for that lol! I do it more for love of the hobby, to support those that support me and to have my own vacation with 100 of the most talented and best pilots and friends a guy could ever hope to have.
The money raised from the event goes towards keeping our field manicured year round and all the club bills paid. This is the only event that makes our club any money. ( we usually end up at “0” or close to it by the next years event.)
3.) Last but not least! Michael Warner, Trond H. Hammerstad, Johanna Smith, Richard Muller, Rich Erikson ,Johnathan Smith, and Ted Antonapolis, and my special buddy Ella Lovitt are the Heartbeat and sole of Jets Over The Heartland. Some of them coming from out of the country and all out of the state to spend their hard earned money to help me put on this show. Without them there is no show, no killer meals (no good wine Mike!)and they do it all out of the goodness of their own hearts!
So when you see one of the people at another show tell them thank you for their efforts and that you appreciate everything they do at J.O.T.H!
So thank you for all the support in past years and I look forward to next year and I will endeavor to make it one of the most special J.O.T.H.‘s that’s ever been!
